We recommend private lessons for any student who practices regularly and is interested in becoming a really good player. The one on one time with an instrument specialist is very helpful to any student who is already working hard at performing with excellence.
We do require private lessons for oboe, bassoon, French horn and percussion because of the difficulty of these instruments. We also like the euphonium and tuba players to take lessons because they are also difficult instruments and they are owned by the school.
To participate in the private lesson program, you must enroll by:
1. filling out a CFISD private lesson enrollment form (available from the directors)
2. turning in a $60.00 deposit check made out to Cy-Fair ISD with the enrollment form
Students sign an attendance sheet at their lessons, and the district Music Office will bill you once a month for the lessons they were given during the previous month.
Lessons cost $15.00 a half hour for a level 1 teacher and $13.50 a half hour for a level 2 teacher. A level 1 teacher has at least 2 years teaching experience or a degree in music.
